Dr. Thomas
Dr. Thomas is a private mediator, specializing in
civil problem-solving and decision-making.
She is trained in both Transformative
Mediation, with Baruch Bush at
Hofstra
University,
and Interests-Based Mediation,
through
Woodbury
College,
and holds Advanced Practitioner
status with the Association of Conflict Resolution (ACR).
She is active with Mediation Matters, Inc., and received the 2008
Mediator of the Year award. Her
business is a designated woman-owned
business (WBO) by New York
State.
Dr. Thomas’ background includes 20 years of
creating innovative change in the public sector.
She founded, and served as
New
York
State’s
first Director of the Office for Technology; co-shared the OGS Futures
Commission; and coordinated a group-based effort to re-codify the
State’s 100 year old procurement law which passed its first year.
Her creative austerity budgeting experience spans the criminal
justice, higher education, and general services sectors.
Dr. Thomas is a recognized author, with her first book, Managers,
Part of the Problem? published by Quorum Books in 1999.
Her latest book, People Skills for Tough Times, The Keys to Getting Along, published
in 2008, received a national review by Dr. Don Saposnek of the ACR and is
available through this website.
