Frequently Asked Questions

How much does mediation cost?
In-session hours cost $125 per hour. There is also an additional charge for the divorce and separation Memorandum of Understanding of $300, to cover the time spent drafting the MOU.

Does mediation have to involve both parties?
Traditionally, yes. Mediation is really not appropriate for people who don't care to talk with one another or are afraid to do so.

What if one party refuses to negotiate in good faith?
The goal of mediation is reaching your collective definition of what's fair. Fair is a subjective determination, yet in mediation both parties have to agree. If this is not possible, alternative action is necessary.

Can I bring an attorney?
You can bring whomever you choose to mediation as long as both parties agree. You are also encouraged to have access to an attorney throughout the divorce and separation process, and especially at the close of the process to review the document to ensure your rights are protected.

What if I'm having trouble with a neighbor or fellow employee?
Mediation applies to many situations beyond divorce and separation. It works wherever people need to discuss difficult topics and resolve differences.
