Mediation is all about dealing with differences: how we hear one another, handle issues we disagree on, and resolve problems. In mediated problem-solving, the mediator plays a facilitative, non-directive role, ensuring the people involved -- who know the situation best -- make their own decisions. We specialize in the following areas: Traditional Mediation for couples, families, groups, employees, neighbors, etc, to assist in clarifying issues, generating discussion, facilitating options, and enabling parties to work towards creative ideas and solutions. Talk 2 for couples interested in devising better ways to talk with one another so problems can be elevated, delicate issues can be discussed, and solutions can be arranged without rancor or hurt feelings. A Different Path (ADP) is for small groups and organizations. It uses unique dialoguing sessions to raise and examine difficult issues, and address them in a safe, non-directive, and non-invasive environment. ADP creates a context for change, allowing participants to examine worn-out assumptions and repetitive behavior to find greater understanding and deeper creativity. Divorce, Separation and Co-Parenting Plans covers custody, shared time, decision making, high conflict or parallel parenting, child rearing; as well as support and the equitable distribution of property. Specialized Services are available for family, group, and organizational retreats, and other mediation-related needs. Also, a new form of non-directive "coaching" for individuals, groups, and organizations based on Dr. Thomas' upcoming new book will soon be available. |
